Entertron Industries, in conjunction with KTI Technologies have developed an all in one redundant control system, specifically for press manufacturers. No longer will you have to use 2 PLCs and additional safety components, the CM-1805-AS has all that and much more.

The concept behind the CM-1805-AS is to allow manufacturing end-users the ability to retro-fit their current press control system where by utilizing as much of their current control components such as, switches, indicator lights, enclosure, motor starters etc. The module is supplied on a 30H x 24W sub-panel and the units physical dimensions are 14L x 12W

This small design is essentially a complete dual logic press control incorporating all required operating logic, press control functions and safety features required by Federal Regulations. The system comes standard with an operator display message center to indicate the control status, over 75 messages inform the operator of critical fault conditions, control status conditions and step by step press starting procedures. System includes a detailed operator user-installation manual and is backed by a full one-year manufacture warranty.

The CM-1805-AS meets the following requirements found in OSHA standard 1910.217 and ANSI standard B11.1-1988.

The KTI 9020 series press control and CM-1805-AS clutch/brake module provides a straight forward solution for the safety and productivity requirements demanded of today’s Metal Forming facilities for part revolution press controls. The 9020/CM-1805-AS series offers safe, repeatable operation by incorporating into it’s design Anti-Tie down capability, Anti-Repeat capability, Control component reliability check and a run mode sequential operation fault check feature.

The units base design is a dual-logic microprocessor press control incorporating all required operating logic, press control functions and safety features required by Federal Regulations. Both the 9020 and CM-1805-AS module come standard with an operator display message center to indicate the control status, over 75 messages inform the operator of critical fault conditions, control status conditions and step by step press starting procedures.

The system includes a detailed operator user-installation manual and is backed by a full one-year manufacture warranty. The 9020 press control is supplied within a NEMA 12 enclosure ( 30H x 24W x 8D ) the above photo represents a standard typical configuration. All basic control switches and indicators are mounted on the enclosure’s door. A 30 Amp/ 220V through the door disconnected is supplied and mounted. Additional control functions such as, main motor starter, ram adjust starter, lube control, die protection, automation, etc. can be quoted and customized to the users requirements.

The 9020C console press control is supplied within a NEMA 12 enclosure. Either a 24W x 48H x 18D or a 36W x 48H x 18D console can be selected. All basic control switches & indicators with operator run buttons (optional) are mounted on the console incline. A 75 Amp (typically) 220V/440V through the door disconnected is supplied and mounted. Additional control functions such as, operator control buttons, main motor starter, ram adjust starter, lube control, die protection, automation, etc. can be quoted and customized and mounted to the users requirements.

The CM-1805-AS clutch / brake control module is a self contained sub-panel assembly. The unit was designed to help end-users up-grade their existing press control to current O.S.H.A & ANSI Regulation requirements.

FUNCTIONS AND CONTROL OPERATION

CONTROL RELIABILITY “ CONTROL COMPONENT FAILURE”:

The 9020 CM-1805-AS control module and the 9020C console clutch/brake controls meet or exceeds all OSHA 1910.217 and ANSI B11.1-1988 standards for control reliability. Control reliability standards require that clutch/brake circuits be designed and constructed so that a single failure or fault within the system does not prevent the normal stopping action from being applied to the press when required, or does not create an unintended stroking action, but does prevent initiation of a successive stroke until the failure is corrected.

THE 9020 series and CM-1805-AS SOLID STATE PRESS CONTROL MODULE Both offer safe, repeatable operation by incorporating into it’s design Anti-Tie down and Anti-Repeat capability a control component reliability check and a run mode sequential fault feature. The units base design is a solid-state complete self-checking dual logic microprocessor base control. The control has two independent CPU’s cross checking each function of the controls operation.

OPERATOR MESSAGE DISPLAY: (STANDARD)
Standard on the 9020 series and CM-1805-AS solid state control systems is a revolutionary “ Operator Message Display” mounted with the operator controls at a customer designated location or on the control panel. The bright back lite alpha-numeric scrolling message display informs the user of any faults, failures and the current operating status of the punch press control system. The messages are in plain English and will give the press operator information quickly and safely. The “Operator Message Display” system is so advanced that it will immediately inform the user of such problems as pressure switch faults, failed output relays, or rotary cam mis-adjustments. This self-diagnostic feature will save many maintenance dollars and will enhance machine uptime measurably due to the units captive troubleshooting ability. Best of all, this information is supplied without even opening the control panel door.

SYSTEM LOGIC AND COMPONENT DIAGNOSTICS: (STANDARD)
A combination of LED’s and alpha-numeric plain English message display will enhance in-field troubleshooting greatly. The alpha-numeric message display is capable of displaying more than seventy five different message.

REDUNDANT CAPTIVE CONTACT SAFETY RELAYS: (STANDARD)
The system incorporates redundant safety relays to assure safety if a control output relay should fail. The system utilizes safety relays which have force-guided contacts. This is a configuration where the contacts are not mechanically locked together so that if one set of contacts weld, the other contacts can change state. If one should fail, the control shuts down and the message display will identify which relay has faulted and what state the relay should be in ( on/off ).

PART STROKE PROVISION WITH INDICATOR: (STANDARD)
If the press control is in “ Single-stroke “ or “ Continuous” mode of operation and the press stops before the completion of a full stroke, The Part Stroke Provision is activated. The control will automatically switch to “ inch “ mode and the palm buttons must be used to return the ram to the top of the stroke. When back at top the control automatically switches back to the original operational mode setting and the operator may resume normal production. The Part Stroke Provision improves productivity and safety significantly by eliminating the need for the operator to make mode selections adjustments on interrupted strokes.

MICRO-INCH FEATURE STANDARD: (STANDARD)
The Micro-inch feature provides ram movement for a predetermined amount of time. The palm buttons actuates micro-inch and a Micro-Inch timer inside the control panel controls the amount of ram movement. Micro-Inch also indexes the ram in increments that eases set-up in high speed or short stroke press operations.

CLUTCH/BRAKE VALVE DETECTION: (STANDARD)
The system incorporates a clutch valve detection mode. If the press' clutch valve is of a design enabling contact movement detection, this feature will monitor the time frame and response of the clutch brake valve. If the clutch brake valve fails to change state after electrical activation the control will generate a VALVE FAULT and stop all motion functions. The operator display will inform the operator of the fault condition.

POSITIONAL BRAKE MONITORING FEATURE: (STANDARD)
Required by all press controls by Federal Regulations is positioning brake monitoring. In the event that the control is signaled to stop and the press does not stop at top position a brake fault is generated. This fault stops all motion functions and informs the operator of the fault condition.

MOTION DETECT FEATURE: (STANDARD)
In the event that the press control is signaled to start, in any mode of operation, the control monitors the time frame from signal start to physical motion on the cam limit switches. If no motion is detected a mechanical connection could have occurred and the control generates a motion detect fault.

BAR MODE OPERATION FEATURE (STANDARD)
This feature allows the operator or set-up machanic the ability to move the ram by-way of a physical bar on the flywheel. In this mode all motion functions are deactivated and the clutch/brake valve is energized.

ENERGY CONSERVATION SHUTDOWN FEATURE (STANDARD)
This featire is designed into the control as a cost savings option. When the control is idle with the main flywheel motor started for more than 30 minutes the control automatically shuts down to conserve on energy consumption. The control informs the operator of this shutdown condition.
