A new embedded programmable logic controller where the "P" in PLC stands for POWERFUL; Extends warranty on both relay output and solid state controllers.

Gasport, NY - January 18, 2001 - Entertron Industries, Inc., the innovation leader in programmable logic controller solutions introduces the SK1600-RIC embedded programmable logic controller (ePLC), and its new warranty.

The SK1600-RIC offers a base unit of 16 digital inputs and 12 relay outputs (4 form A relays; 8 form C relays), RS232 serial port, 1 10 KHz high speed counter, 4K available memory for program. This unit is fully expandable to 32 inputs and 24 outputs (8 form A relays; 16 form C relays). Options include the following:

  • Up to 4 analog I/O (8 bit resolution) with pot adjustment on the board

  • 2nd serial port option - RS 232 or 2 wire RS485

  • Real Time Clock

  • Expanded Memory, for up to 12K of memory space for program

  • AC or DC inputs (300 mA power supply provided for DC input models)

  • Various power options available - 12 VDC, 24 VDC, 24 VAC, 120 VAC

What sets the SK1600-RIC apart from the competition is its performance, versatility and convenience. A base unit (12 outputs) offers 8 outputs with a rating of 8 amps / output @ 30 VDC or 125 VAC. A fully expanded unit (24 outputs) offers 16 outputs with a rating of 8 amps / output. No other PLC in its class compares.

The versatility of the SK1600-RIC is unmatched. Various power voltages and input voltages are available. For DC input configurations, we offer 12 VDC NPN (sinking) with a 300 mA power supply (PNP inputs can be ordered as an option) or 120 VAC as the standard. All inputs are optically isolated. The SK1600-RIC can be configured for 24 VAC, used primarily in car wash and HVAC applications.

Entertron has manufactured the SK1600-RIC with removable terminal blocks, and removable memory, making the controller easy to install and easy to replace. Other conveniences include a mounting plate to make installation easy...no modules or racks, just four holes to drill.

When you think embedded controllers, you tend to think a higher level language to program. Entertron's embedded programmable logic controllers use relay ladder logic to program. Both Windows and DOS programming packages are available. On line monitoring can be done directly through the RS232 port (no adapter required).

Entertron offers a Standard operating system, Enhanced Operating System and ModBus Operating system for the SK1600-RIC. The Standard operating system is typically used with the SK1600-RIC when no operator interface is required. The Enhanced operating system offers an ASCII communications protocol and 250 registers for use with operator interfaces. ModBus is used for networking, or in conjunction with operator interfaces.

The RS232 serial port that comes standard is a universal port, used for downloading a program, operator interface port, serial printer port or peer to peer network. Unlike other PLCs, no serial adapter is required.

The second serial port can be ordered as either RS232 and used as a dedicated operator interface port, serial printer port or peer to peer network port. When ordered as an RS485 serial port and used in conjunction with Entertron's ModBus operating system, up to 16 SK1600-RIC controllers can be networked as slaves to a master controller. The RS485 port can send data up to 4000 feet.

Entertron offers a low cost solution for analog requirements. Up to 4 analog I/O can be ordered. The analog inputs can be used with such devices as pressure transducers, variable resistors, thermistors, etc.
The analog outputs can be use with variable frequency drives, or any device requiring an analog input signal. The standard configuration is 0-10 VDC and is scaleable down to 0-2.5 VDC.
