The Entertron Advantage

Excluding cost as an issue, Entertron offers the following features and capabilities:

Using the SK1600-RIC or Smart-PAK PLUS

  • 8 amp outputs - no additional relays required. Most other PLCs offer an output rating of 2 amps / output. In using a load at or higher than specified will reduce the useful life of the control relay.

  • Pluggable terminal blocks - This feature allows for easy installation and replacement of controller. Ideal for testing controller before wiring to final system. Also, ideal for customers should controller fail in field. Rather than tag and unwire all terminals, The Entertron unit unplugs. NO REWIRING IS REQUIRED.

  • A 5 year warranty - Entertron warrants that its controllers are free from manufacturing error or component defect for 5 years. Should there be component failure, send the unit back for repair. Entertron offers repair services after the three year warranty has expired.

  • Pluggable Memory - EPROMS are socketed and can be replaced in the field. Should a customer require a program modification, You can simply send the customer an EPROM with the desired changes. Other PLCs would require you to do one of the following - either send someone with a program loader to the site and make the desired changes, or give the customer your program.

Entertron believes that the program is intellectual property of the OEM and should be protected.

Unlike other controllers with password protection to guard against this, Entertron takes a different approach with our OEM customers. When creating a program, two files are created. The first is your ladder logic file. The second file is a .hex file. The .hex file is the ONLY file that is loaded into the controller. Should your customer require a modification to your equipment, they would be required to contact you, rather than go to a local distributor in their area for the PLC that is in your system. This approach assists our OEMs in replacement and after the sale revenue for their equipment. Should you choose to give your customer YOUR program, that is entirely up to you, but with fierce competition and the threat of theft of design, a company must take all precautions.

As a result, Entertron protects its OEM customers. How? All Entertron controllers have an independent serial number. Each serial number is logged and includes the following information:

  • Date of purchase

  • I/O configuration

  • Name of company that purchased controller

Should your customer contact Entertron and inquire about pricing and spare parts, Entertron first requests a serial number for the controller. If the controller is sold to a current OEM, Entertron will refer them back to the OEM. Thus offering factory protection, GUARANTEED.

The advantages of standardizing with Entertron include:

  • Minimize Inventory carrying cost

  • Minimize Part numbers required for bill of materials

  • Increase buying power

  • Avoid customer specification with Entertron strategy

  • Reduce additional components required (additional relays)

  • 5 year warranty

  • 10 year repair window

  • Factory protection - ask and we will explain!!

  • Program protection - better than password

  • Pluggablility
