Elite-2000 Analog Board can operate as part of system or stand alone

Gasport, NY - January 15, 2002 - Entertron Industries Inc., the innovation leader in programmable logic controller solutions introduces the addition of analog capabilities for the Elite-2000.

The analog card for the Elite-2000 can be ordered with up to 8 inputs and 8 outputs. The Inputs can be configured individually in any of the following:

  • 0-5 VDC
  • 0-10 VDC
  • +/- 5 VDC
  • +/- 10 VDC
  • 4-20 mA
  • RTD - 100 ohm Din (European curve)
  • Thermocouple - Type K with cold junction compensation.

With Entertron's board level design approach, we can even do nonstandard voltages for the inputs, such as 0-12 VDC, 0-24 VDC, for monitoring power supplies and batteries.

The outputs can be configured as follows:

  • 0-5 VDC
  • 0-10 VDC
  • +/- 5 VDC
  • 4-20 mA (3 outputs only)

The board can be powered with 120 VAC and includes a switching +/- 15 VDC power supply.

There are two things that set this board apart from the competition:

  • Microprocessor on board

What makes this analog expansion card stand apart from the competition is on board processing. Unlike most analog modules, the Elite-2000 analog card has its own microprocessor. Sampling and averaging are done on the analog board. The main PLC processor is not being overworked. The power of two microprocessors is being utilized to the maximum. Other PLC manufacturer's analog expansion cards don't include a microprocessor and thus are only able to sample. The averaging and processing is done by the main processor, thus adding to the scan time of the PLC with the additional work load.

The analog I/O are sampled every 0.5 milliseconds. A total of 20 samplings are averaged and then sent to the main PLC register on the Elite-2000. This is done once every 8 milliseconds.

  • Work as a standalone analog controller without the need for a main board.

When Entertron developed the idea of using a microprocessor for this analog board, we decided to take it one step further and offer what our competitors don't...a stand alone analog only ePLC. The main advantage is cost savings. If you only needed analog for your application, with our competitors, you would still need the following:

  • Rack
  • CPU
  • Power Supply
  • Analog Cards

Other features include:

  • Standard RS232 port for monitoring or downloading of program
  • Second port, either RS232 or 2 wire RS485 for monitoring
  • Battery Backed Ram for data retention
  • Pluggable Terminal Blocks
  • Pluggable Memory

With Entertron, the Elite-2000 analog expansion board can operate independently, thus saving hundreds of dollars.

Pricing for this Elite-2000 analog card, either as a component of an entire system or as a stand alone system starts at $695 for 8 analog inputs.
