Entertron
Industries has developed a controller
specifically designed for the vehicle restraint
market. The controller (VRC-G2) was developed to
provide a more reliable, noise immune product.
The design was based on Entertron's Smart-PAK
micro ePLC and was modified to incorporate 2 15
amp relays to directly control the vehicle
restraint actuator.
Extensive
testing was performed on the VRC-G2. In excess of
40,000 1 minute cycles were performed. The
testing was the equivalent of 16 years of
flawless performance, based on operating the
vehicle restraint an average of 10 times per day.
Entertron is providing a 3 year warranty on the
VRC-G2.
Unlike
other vehicle restraint controllers, the VRC-G2
is programmable using Entertron's ladder logic
software and dedicated specifically for the
vehicle restraint industry. Now vehicle restraint
manufacturers can have a dedicated controller
designed for vehicle restraints and programs like
a PLC using relay ladder logic. Vehicle restraint
manufacturers would be able to purchase directly
from Entertron and incorporate the VRC-G2 into
their systems.

controller is capable of replacing Serco part
number 637-112 without material modifications.
Because of the potential bodily harm attendant
with malfunctioning vehicle restraints, Entertron
emphasizes that any alterations or modifications
of restraining device controllers must only be
made with written permission of the original
manufacturer. Any alteration or modification
shall be in conformance with all applicable
industry standards and shall be at least as safe
as the equipment was before modification. These
changes shall also satisfy all safety
recommendations or the OEM for the particular
application of the restraint.
